ISOC Singapore Chapter Officer Meeting

The first ISOC Singapore Chapter Officer Meeting was held on Thursday, 26 January 2012 at the GRID MMS, SCAPE.  The committee would like to thank the organization for their generosity in providing their studio for the meeting.

During the 2 hours meeting, the following were discussed:

1. ISOC SG will work with SPH on the publicity of the Chapter

2. The production of a weekly articles relating to internet. The articles should first be published at the ISOC.sg and proposing to work with Digital Life to pull the articles from the website. 3. Creation of a monthly podcast interview with Internet leaders in Singapore. For more information or if you would like to work for the team, please contact Bryan Tan at [email protected].

4. INET to be organized in early December 2012 (dates subject to change). This will be a two-day event with one day for plenary and one day for workshops, some of which could be targeted at the young. Intellectual Property would be one focus for the conference along with the following areas:

  • Cyber wellness
  • SOPA
  • Content creators – how use Internet to reach out and what are the challenges/problems

5. The Chapter’s activities need to be posted online. Google Plus will be used and the documents sharing should be governed by various access level.

6. A Secretariat committee, apart from only Yvonne Lim to be set up and preferably with someone who knows Google Apps. If any of the ISOC SG members is interested, please contact Yvonne Lim at [email protected].

7. Corporate membership would allow a maximum of four members to participate the Chapter’s event on a discount.

8. Workshops: (refer to actual event page for latest information as the details may change)

  • A IPv6 related workshop on 20 April 2012, 3 to 5pm. Venue to be confirmed. The workshop will be co-organised by IPv6 Forum Singapore and ISOC Singapore Chapter, with the sponsor by Progreso Networks.

The talk will cover:

  • Evolution of IPv6
  • Current Status of IPv4 & IPv6
  • Benefits of IPv6
  • IPv6 Addresses and Prefixes
  • IPv6 Transition Mechanisms Overview
  • IPv6 Security Overview
