This Forum and Webcast is your opportunity to find out more about and to contribute your views on this urgent issue concerning Internet use in Singapore.
\nThe Ministry of Law (MinLaw) has announced that it plans to block websites which blatantly infringe copyright material by the end of this year, if proposed changes to the Copyright Act are passed. The aim is to give rights holders more effective measures to act against sites which host pirated content. But will it be seen as another form of online censorship? Who can apply for a blocking order and what must they prove? Which sites will be considered \u201cegregious” enough to be blocked? What recourse do wrongly blocked sites have to appeal? Will site blocking change behaviour?
